ABBSA First National 8 Ball Championship a Success
The Antigua and Barbuda Billiards Sports Association held Antigua’s first National 8 Ball Championship on Saturday December 3rd 2011. The Championship was held at the Multipurpose Cultural Centre on Perry Bay. Thirty four athletes competed for over twelve hours for the coveted title of 2011 National 8 Ball Champion.
The matches started just after 10AM with the thirty four athletes competing in a round-robin to come up with the final sixteen. Among the thirty-four was 11 year-old Imtiaz Tallim who had two impressive wins and was the youngest competitor. Ms Sira Berzas was the lone female in the competition emerging successful and victorious over every person in her group, earning her a spot in the final sixteen. At 79 years old veteran, enthusiast, and accomplished cueist Mr Pat Beazer was the oldest competitor having some impressive wins whilst entertaining many of the other athletes.
